Having hair that smells like perfume, who can resist? Giovanni is a brand known for its great smelling fragrances. This Root 66 Volume Shampoo is no exception but it fails its purpose as a volumizing product. You will be instantly smitten by its attractive and sleek packaging which is has the signature purple dots of Giovanni. Its affordable price sliced down to above $7.99 by Amazon makes it all the more enticing.

Description: Its label declares the product great for adding volume and thickness to hair.
Most users experience having limp and sticky hair after a day's use. Some users even have a difficult time disentangling their hair after shampooing. Some even experienced severe dermatitis.
Recommendation: Do not buy! I am not wondering why such a great name in the beauty industry will greatly reduce the price of their product to a real steal at $7.99. Besides, it won't cure your hair loss problem. It's just a fancy smelling hair moisturizer that only works the first time you shampoo with it.

Price: $19.00

The problem with most organic based hair products is that they try to be everything but fail to focus on the main problem that they are supposed to address. Take for example this product, Earth's Essence shampoo.

Most effective for:

Makes your hair look thicker and fuller

Can be used from head to toe

Affordable at $19

Great smell

Non toxic, soy free, gluten free and non-allergenic

Other factors to consider:

Only makes your hair look virtually thicker but has no long lasting effect

Is not a permanent cure for hair loss

Extremely non foaming and low sudsing

Results vary for every user

Takes time to show results

Description: It sells itself differently by riding on the organic trend by advertising itself as an 'all around' product. It's not just good for the hair it's also good for the whole body. You can use it as a shampoo to rejuvenate the health of hair and it detoxifies by absorbing impurities. It's also used as a body/face wash because of its exfoliating properties. It comes in 5 different flavors representing the 5 different elements of the earth. And it is because of this that you have to go through the painful ordeal of combining two flavors at one time when using and then rotating the flavors everyday to maximize your results.

In the end, buying all the flavors makes this product quite expensive (even if its just at $19 per bottle) and so tedious to use. Not to mention quite confusing! With all the media hype and consumer testimonials saying that its a great product to invest on, the real reason why you will be buying the product is overshadowed. Making the hair look fuller, shiner and rejuvenated does not give you the permanent cure for hair loss! It just gives you the optical illusion that you have a fuller head of hair.

Ingredients:This product contains water, micronized gray kaolin clay, pure southwestern white clays, red & brown clays, chinese green tea, natural soapbark from Chile, mexico cactus, aloe vera, blood of the dragon, irish moss, mexico cactus, white, brown & red algae, 92 trace minerals, raw apple cider vinegar, and essential oils of myrrh, eucalyptus, sage, rosemary, vetiver and sesame.

Recommendation: I have nothing against products that try to do everything all at the same time. What I am against about is that they mislead people into thinking that this will be the ultimate cure to hair loss when it is not. The results differ for everyone so don't expect to get the same results that the lady in the video is raving about. Aside from the hidden expense of having to buy all these products to get the best results, I am discouraging you from buying because of the impractical use of too many products in just one week. There are other multi-purpose products you can buy in just one bottle that will give you the better results in less than half the total cost of this product. What you need is one that will make your hair grow back and stay thick and full in the long term, not this product that gives you the illusion that it does.

Price: $28.75

Burt will be very disappointed by his own product! Burt's Bees has built a solid reputation from their quality beauty products – and this must be their first foible.

The Very Volumizing Pomegranate & Soy Shampoo seems like a very effective product for people with thin, fine and falling hair. The product claims to add volume, making hair thick, nourished and smelling great. According to some users, yes, the product lives up to its promises. With its affordable price of $11.95 makes it quite appealing to a lot of users.

However, this product does not fully deliver everything it says it could do. Not all users experience the softness and fullness that it claims. Some users complained it made their hair dry, limp and even caused hair fall. Some of the users even said the product does not lather and they have a difficult time washing it off their hair. This caused some itchiness and even the formation of dandruff.

Ingredients: The fruit extract of Pomegranate comes from the Punica Granatum tree. It contains many anthocyanidisn and polyphenols which are high in antioxidants for protection of skin and hair. The complete list of ingredients are: decyl glucoside, water, glycerin, betaine, lauryl glucoside, sucrose laurate, coco-betaine, coco-glucoside, fragrance, glyceryl oleate, soy amino acids, punica granatum seed oil, sodium cocoyl hydrolyzed soy protein, hydroxypropyltrimonium honey, extract of moringa pterygosperma seed , xanthan gum, glucose, citric acids, sodium chloride, glucose oxidase, phenoxyethanol, benzyl benzoate and lactoperoxidase.

Positives:
• Great smell, like cranberries
• Good for adding volume and moisture to hair
• Makes hair healthy and glossy
• Great for all kinds of hair
• Leaves hair full, soft and with volume

Negatives:
• Causes dandruff and itchy scalp
• Does not give consistent results
• Does not lather or wash off hair completely
• Only 97.2% natural

Recommendation: Since this product gives inconsistent results then my strong advice would be – try it on your own risk! It's affordable enough for you to experiment with this product. If it doesn't work at least your hair smells great. If it's causing you too much discomfort like itching and dandruff like the what the other users experienced, then its best to discontinue its use. You have to remember that like all organic products, the results do take time and they will vary for every user. With the 3% chemical content, expect that the product can really have mixed reviews and results.

This product is very cheap but it's worth avoiding. Olive oil is definitely good for all other aspects-to be used an ingredient in cooking food, for aesthetic purposes, for direct intake but it sure is not a cure for hair loss. People are often mislead that one great ingredient that may be effective for other purposes can address their main concern. Such is the case with this shampoo called Organic Olive Oil.

This product does nourish and moisturize hair as some users attest in their testimonies. Some even claim it cleans well and removes the build-up of dirt and oil. However, not all will agree to getting the same results.

According to some consumer testimonies, this shampoo leaves their hair dry and hard to untangle after its first use. This only means the results are not consistent and will not be the same for everybody. With closer inspection of its label, it contains carcinogenic ingredients which makes it unsafe for use.

Price: $30.25

The Biotin B-Complex Shampoo product made by Avalon Organics claims its an effective elixir in nourishing the scalp and hair to add body and shine to thinning, lifeless and fine hair. According to some user testimonials it does effectively thicken hair, adding volume and body to fine and thin hair. It is formulated with natural and organic ingredients like aloe, jojoba and rosemary and other effective ingredients that enhances scalp circulation and in stimulating the hair follicles.

However, there are so many drawback to this product. First of all, since it's organic, the results take time to show so one bottle will not be enough to use. As one user says, she had to use several bottles before her hair actually thickened. If you do your math, although its cheap at its highest price of $9.79, it will only last you for a month. You will have to keep reordering until you don't even notice how much you've spent before you get your desired results.

Second, it smells like a floor cleaner. Unless its okay with you that you have hair smelling like your floors you can go ahead and use this. One consumer suggests ironing your hair in between wax sheets after using the shampoo just to take out the smell. But that's kind of too much effort just to remove an offensive shampoo smell, don't you think?

Ingredients: The product is formulated with jojoba, nourishing aloe, rosemary, wheat protein (for strengthening and smoother hair), and saw palmetto. It is also created with the healing combination of Complex B vitamins – panthenol, niacin and biotin to nourish scalp and hair for added shine and body, enhanced scalp circulation and stimulating hair follicles.

Positives:
• Affordability varies
• Effective in thickening, nourishing, moisturizing hair and scalp
• Best for thinning, fine and lifeless hair
• Cuts down hair fall
• All organic ingredients

Negatives:
• Must be used with the Biotin-B Complex Thickening conditioner for maximum results.
• Contents of the product finishes fast
• According to a consumer the product smells like Pine-Sol Floor cleaner
• Takes time to show results
• Does not work for everyone

Recommendation: In fairness to the product, there really are no overnight miracles when it comes to the treatment of hair loss. Likewise, there is no full proof guarantee that this product works because there are negative testimonials that equal in number to its positive feedbacks. It only shows that the product is not as effective as it promises to be. I'd rather find another product that is more effective, smells better, and delivers what it really claims to be.

Many factors (heredity, hormones, nutritional deficiencies, changes of season) can lead to more significant hair loss, which may become permanent throughout the year (in men), or cyclical (in women). However, the severity of persistent hair loss varies from one person to another: therefore, men and women who suffer from persistent hair loss notice that it intensifies during periods of fatigue or overwork.

La Roche Posay Kerium Anti-Hair loss Treatment claims to have a double anti-hair loss action, as well as a growth stimulating effect which aids in the restoration of your hair follicles back to normal.

Directions for Use: One application every day, or at least 3 applications every week for 6 weeks

Ingredients: The double anti-hair loss action of La Roche stems from its two main ingredients, Madecassoside and Aminexil. Madecassoside carries out its anti-hair loss effects due to its anti-inflammatory properties. With its anti-inflammatory effects, it can prevent hair loss that is triggered by micro irritations that occur on the scalp. Without this ingredient, irritations on the scalp would trigger inflammatory actions which will cause hair follicles to be dislodged from the scalp. Aminexil on the other hand, prevents collagen particles that surround each hair follicle from becoming too stiff. This way, it can better accommodate movement of the hair follicles and not cause it to fall off very easily.

Aside from these two main ingredients, La Roche also has arginine which helps prevent hair loss by stimulating better circulation in the scalp. This allows more nutrients and keratin to be delivered to each hair follicle and allowing it to stay in its position for a much longer time. Lastly, La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring water complements the action of Madecassoside as well as provides minerals such as selenium which is known to be an oral supplement in inhibiting hair loss.

Positives:
• States clearly how it can prevent hair loss
• Works in as fast as 6 weeks time
• Fast and easy to use

Negatives:
• A bit expensive compared to other hair loss treatments
• May not be able to prevent hair loss caused by other factors such as increase in DHT levels

Recommendation: PROLONGED CAPILLARY GROWTH IN 6 WEEKS clinically proven under dermatological control. Worth a try.

Hair loss is a common problem between men and women. Thinning hair, an indication of hair loss adds years to your physical age. Hair Cubed or H3 is a revolutionary product that most doctors recommend as an alternative to hair transplants.

It's very effective and easy to use. You just have to spray and comb the product into clean hair. The hair looks thickened so you can style it into any shape or direction that you want. The product is waterproof and moisture-proof that it won't wash off under the rain.

The product is so appealing to people who are looking for better alternatives to hair transplant. It has gained the attention and patronage of most celebrities such as Ellen DeGeneres.

However, the product does not offer a permanent cure to hair loss because it only lasts until the next time you shampoo. One container will only last you for a month so you will have to reorder again. Another draw back is that you can't use the product with other hair styling products. Although the product is vouched for by hair doctors and celebrities to be very efficient in covering up for thinning hair, it is still not the best cure for hair loss.

But that illusion lasts only until the next time you shampoo.

For a more permanent cure then just go for a hair graft. In the long run, the money you will spend constantly buying this product will be tantamount to the same cost for a more lasting relief like a hair transplant.

Recommendation:If you are very particular about scents and the looks of your shampoo then this is not for you. As I see it, it may be effective for some as a moisturizer but I really doubt it would give your hair any volume at all. It does not give you any guarantee that you will have thicker hair. And definitely it does not work for everyone, perhaps only for those with hair texture that is compatible with the components of this product.

You will definitely find a better product than this oil based shampoo that will address your hair loss concerns. Why not spend just a little more on another product that is sure to give you the results that you are looking for?

Description: A gentle moisturizing shampoo with organic ingredients, Jamaican Black castor Oil. No chemicals whatsoever. You have to remember that Castor oil is a traditional remedy for healing cuts and bruises on skin, it may not be as effective as a hair growth treatment. Since it is an oil based shampoo, you can definitely expect that although split ends may be covered up, it does not make your hair feel any lighter at all.

Disclaimer: THIS IS NOT a hair loss product but with its popularity as a “quit smoking drug”, I opted to provide some inside review on this related to hair loss.

Description:Chantix is an effective prescription medicine that is proven to help smokers quit smoking. It is manufactured by Pfizer, one of the famous names in the pharmaceutical company known for its quality medical products.

However, there are also several side effects that this drug can cause. There are some users who claim that they have experienced hair loss and developed bald spots while taking this drug.

Although hair loss is not on the listed side effects of this medicine, the number of users who claim to experience this adverse effect is growing in number. Hair loss is usually caused by the depletion of protein in the body. It can also be a side effect on the combination of drugs that are not compatible.

Since the drug alters some of the normal functions of the body, it can be assumed that it affects the normal levels of the body's nutrients as well. It is also a fact that this drug is not to be combined with other prescription medicines because it can result to adverse effects. A thorough investigation of the user's health condition should be made when hair loss occurs to rule out Chantix as its cause. However, with this common occurrence among its users, it is not unlikely that hair loss is another one of the Chantix side effects. You can check some information on forum discussions.

Other factors to consider:

Causes side effects like nausea, constipation, sleep problems, vomiting and gas

Not recommended for pregnant women

Not to be taken if you are undergoing dialysis or have kidney problems

Not to be taken if you have blood vessel problems or heart disease

Not to be taken with insulin, blood thinners and asthma medicines

Many users claim it causes hair loss and bald spots

Ingredients: The active ingredient of Chantix is Varenicline Tartarate. This ingredient stimulates the nicotine receptors in your brain to reduce the cravings for nicotine. This helps in assisting patients in quitting smoking.

Chantix also contains anhydrous dibasic calcium phosphate, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellouse sodium, magnesium stearate, colloidal silicon diocise, Opadry White (for the 0.5mg), Opadry Clear (for both the 0.5mg and 1 mg) and Opadry Blue (for the 1mg).

Recommendation: Think twice before taking this drug when you are quitting smoking. There are so many side effects associated with this drug. Aside from altering the normal processes of your brain and body, it also changes in your aesthetic appearance. Users who experience hair fall or balding spots blame this occurrence on the chemical imbalances caused by Chantix. Even without clinical proof to support this claim, the users themselves attest that their hair started growing back the moment they stopped using this drug.

It is then advisable that due to the numerous adverse effects this drug causes, it is wise to have a health check first with your doctor to determine if this is a suitable treatment for you. If you are currently taking medicines for your pre-existing medical conditions it is best to avoid combining these with Chantix as a preventive method for the side effects.
